Command 1: Repent Matthew 4:17 (audio/video)

Peter used the Law of God in his first sermon to point out to the crowd their sin of murder and rebellion against God. Here is how it is recorded in Acts, “Now when they heard this they were stung (cut) to the heart, and they said to Peter and the rest of the apostles (special messengers), Brethren, what shall we do?  And Peter answered them, Repent (change your views and purpose to accept the will of God in your inner selves instead of rejecting it) and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of and release from your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. [Acts 2:37-38 AMP]

When a person has a diseased physical heart, death is certain unless they can somehow receive a gift of someone else’s heart. This is the same exact problem with humanity! There is no way to reform a person, they will never change. Therefore, God must do a miracle and give a new heart and spirit to cure them of their sick spirit. “I’ll give you a new heart, put a new spirit in you. I’ll remove the stone heart from your body and replace it with a heart that’s God-willed, not self-willed. I’ll put my Spirit in you and make it possible for you to do what I tell you and live by my commands.” [Ezek 36:26-27 THE MESSAGE]

From that time Jesus began to preach, crying out, Repent ( change your mind for the better, heartily amend your ways, with abhorrence of your past sins), for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Command 2 Part 1: Follow Me Matthew 4:19 (audio/video)

To follow Jesus Christ is to abandon…our goals, our pleasures, and to embrace the purposes of God…

“Follow Me and I will make you fishers of men” – Matthew 4:19

The first disciples understood the call to follow Jesus meant to forsake their way of life and be trained by Him to be His disciple [fishers of men].

Matt 16:24 AMP Then Jesus said to His disciples, If anyone desires to be My disciple , let him deny himself [disregard, lose sight of, and forget himself and his own interests] and take up his cross and follow Me [cleave steadfastly to Me, conform wholly to My example in living and, if need be, in dying, also].

Command 3: Rejoice For Great Is Your Reward in Heaven Part 1 (audio/video)

Why should we rejoice when the world hates us?

Matthew 5:10-12 (NKJV)
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.
12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

1/ Rejoice means to have an excitement in your spirit for what God is planning to do through the trials He allows to come into our lives even if our souls are full of sorrow because of them.

2/ Rejoice means to be confident that God is in control of everything in our lives, and He will not allow anything to happen that would hinder our future rewards, as long as we are in fellowship with Him and those around us.

3/ Rejoice means to be confident that when God takes us through trouble, He is preparing us for the rewards of character and achievement that far overshadow the temporary pain of suffering.
